Major fashion designer and activist Kenneth Cole is taking on the sustainable fashion world with his new limited-edition Love Haiti sandal collaboration. Tied to the five year anniversary of the Haiti earthquake, KC collaborates with Deux Main’s sandal workshop – a grassroots social enterprise that uses upcycled tires and locally sourced repurposed leathers – to make one-of-a-kind sandals. Every pair of the comfy and chic slip-ons that you buy helps to support the haitian community and employs local artisan in a still post-earthquake affected economy.
The sandals (for him and her) are each available in three colors. They retail from $69.00 to $79.00 and come with a stylish burlap tote with the phrase “We are in a LOVE-HAITI relationship.” The sandals are available at KennethCole.com as well as select Kenneth Cole retail stores.
Kenneth Cole is an American designer, social activist, and visionary who believes business and philanthropy are interdependent. In 2010 when the earthquake hit Haiti, Kenneth Cole Productions launched an in-store shoe drive and shipped thousands of pairs to Haitians who desperately needed shoes. Kenneth Cole then launched a community-building initiative: an in-store fundraising program and multiple associate volunteer trips to Haiti to help rebuild the community. “Although the press and cameras are gone, the needs of the community are not. This sandal collaboration is one more step in our effort to put our foot-wear it makes a difference,” says Kenneth Cole.
